Jose Seijas is the master blender for Altadis, the world’s largest producer of cigars. For the Jose Seijas Signature Series 2000, he selected what he considers the best of the company’s countless varieties and vintages of tobacco, then allowed them extra time to age and develop their full flavors. This beautifully constructed cigar combines an Ecuadoran wrapper with a Dominican binder and Peruvian, Nicaraguan, and Dominican fillers. The exotic, creamy blend produces perhaps the finest light cigar of the last year, one with a perfect balance between the cinnamony, spicy tang of the filler and the silky smoothness of the well-aged wrapper. One panelist wryly described the Signature as one of the Caribbean basin’s premium breakfast cigars, and others agreed that the cigar’s delicate blend seems best suited for a morning smoke.
