If you long for the soft, savory flavor of a Jamaican-made Macanudo, try the Estate Reserve 2015: It tastes very much like one of those decades-gone cigars. Macanudo-branded cigars are now made in the Dominican Republic, and usually without any Jamaican filler; but the company recently obtained a small quantity of Jamaican leaf that was cultivated exclusively for this one-time release. The filler’s blend of Jamaican, Dominican Republic, and Nicara-guan tobaccos produces a delightfully mild, woodsy flavor.

  • The Jamaican leaf, known as Silver Tongue, accounts for more than a third of the filler.
  • A 10-year-old Connecticut broadleaf is the wrapper, and the binder is a Mexican tobacco.
  • Three sizes are available: robusto, Churchill, and belicoso.
