FrontRunners: Select Smoke

THE EDGE COROJORejecting a trend can produce failure or, alternatively, it can create a new trend. The makers of the Edge, a smoke from Indian Tabac Cigar Co. that eschews elaborate bands, boxes, and branding, likely will achieve the latter. Available only in a roughly finished box of 100, the Edge Corojo is an unassuming presence on store shelves. But do not mistake this powerful smoke for a discount cigar. Its Honduras-grown corojo wrapper and Nicaraguan, Honduran, and Dominican filler tobaccos combine to deliver a strong flavor base over which floats a floral bouquet. Although the Warning: Professional Smokers Only label on the Edge’s box may be hyperbole, we find this medium-to-heavy-bodied cigar to be literally outstanding.
