Monte Carlo–based Wally is known for bold, futuristic powerboat and sailboat designs. The Wally Saudade (+377.9. 310.0093, www.wally.com), the company’s 148-foot flagship, further enhances this reputation with a hull design that borrows somewhat from another breakthrough craft: the 143-foot Wally Esense. Saudade is both fast and deep-sea-worthy. Its owner, an experienced German yachtsman, mandated that the yacht be a true global cruiser, equipped to remain at sea for weeks without having to refuel or take on provisions. To this end, Wally designed a lightweight carbon-composite hull with a lifting keel, and employed composite rigging—all so that the finest technical systems could be installed, regardless of weight.
The interior, by Eidsgaard Design of London, is strikingly minimal, with light-colored wood that accentuates a modern decor and the owner’s Asian art collection. The yacht can accommodate eight guests and includes separate quarters for six crew members. The owner has reserved a special section of the yacht for his own suite and an adjoining office.
