The Budding Apple

Apple, which opened in the West Hollywood neighborhood of Los Angeles last August, is the first restaurant venture by chef Bryan Ogden, son of the celebrity chef Bradley Ogden. Like his father, Ogden offers contemporary American cuisine with exotic influences such as pan-roasted black cod served with a vegetable spring roll, Thai herb salad, and triple-seared Japanese A5 Wagyu strip loin with crispy shallots. One of the more notable design elements is the waterfall wall behind the bar, where bartender Eben Cosbar offers such postprandial pours as the 1978 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Marc de Bourgogne brandy. In addition to the restaurant, the two-story establishment includes a 200-person upstairs lounge and a 149-person after-hours lounge that entertains Hollywood’s hip and trendy.
