Tucked away inside the sprawling kitchen at Le Meurice hotel in Paris is a new private dining room serving unique menus created by Michelin-starred executive chef Yannick Alléno. The quiet, cozy dining room was designed like a theater with one large window into the kitchen affording the evening’s entertainment. It seats up to eight guests around one table.
The Table d’Yquem, which opens in early December, is the brainchild of Alléno, Pierre Lurton, chief executive of Château d’Yquem, and designer Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, who have come together to create this sleek and intimate space. Outfitted in modern decor and dimmed lights, the dining room was conceptualized as a sensual cocoon that provides a stunning juxtaposition to Table d’Yquem’s view: the gleaming kitchens of the iconic restaurant, brimming with activity and life, revealed through a one-way mirror. To create an atmosphere as impressive as it is relaxing, Duchaufour-Lawrance sought to give the room an ethereal ambience with a pale gray Corian table and place settings that give the illusion of suspension atop a floating glass surface. Rich wool carpet and lush leather chairs invite comfort and relaxation, while ceiling lights cast an amber sheen on the room, providing warmth and contrast to the slick glass and metal detailing.
