The photographs that accompany the recipes in The NoMad Cookbook ($100 retail) look so mouthwateringly delicious that taste buds around the globe are sure to jump for joy. The full-page color photographs highlight everything from the signature roasted chicken with foie gras and brioche to the butter-dipped radishes with fleur de sel. Created by chef Daniel Humm and his business partner Will Guidara, the 329-page hardbound cookbook, which was released today, gives step-by-step instructions for creating the rustic, contemporary dishes served at the duo’s New York restaurant of the same name. In addition to recipes for snacks, appetizers, main dishes, and desserts, the cookbook contains in-depth stories written by some of the restaurant’s key players; behind-the-scenes pictures of the restaurant; and an overview of a typical day at the eatery. Perhaps the most unique aspect, however, is a separate, miniature hardbound book of cocktail recipes (200-plus pages) curated by the NoMad bar director Leo Robitschek. The cocktail book is actually embedded in the back of the cookbook and can be removed.
“We knew we had to find a way to really capture the personality of NoMad in the pages of the book, ensuring it was beautiful, but also one that was fun to read,” Humm says. “The book tells the story of NoMad, gives credit to our hardworking team, and most of all provides the reader plenty of food and cocktail recipes.” (amazon.com)
