Wine selection at Grey Gardens
Jen Agg is some kind of genius. The prodigiously gifted restaurateur is responsible for some of the most esteemed and trendsetting eateries in the city’s recent history, including beloved charcuterie bar the Black Hoof—a favorite of Anthony Bourdain and Gordon Ramsay—Haitian cocktail hot spot Rhum Corner, and the mega-hot small-plates crowd-pleaser Grey Gardens, her latest triumph. In the short time it’s been open, Grey Gardens has established itself as the hottest restaurant in Toronto: The reservation book is packed, the food (by former Momofuku chef Mitchell Bates) is raved about, and the wine (selected judiciously by somm Jake Skakun) is toasted with glee. Indeed, the place is so much in vogue right now that selfies in its stylish bathrooms have become a local ritual.
