Every host or hostess knows that a successful party is graded on the quality of the food. Led by executive chef and Top Chef contestant Grayson Schmitz, Brooklynites can rejoice over the news that specialty food shop BKLYN Larder is offering a premade Thanksgiving to-go kit. Larder trays filled with meats, cheeses, and veggies are a great way to begin the festive day—though be careful not to munch too much because the evening meal is unbelievable.
Boneless turkey (white and dark meat) is brined, rolled, and filled with Larder’s sausage and herb stuffing. Pair that with olive-oil crushed potatoes, Brussels sprouts with chorizo and piquillo peppers, cauliflower gratin with gruyere cheese, and roasted acorn squash with butter, brown sugar, and a quiet zing of spice with the addition of chili flakes. And, of course, the Wisconsin native has green bean casserole available—you can take the girl out of the Midwest, but you can’t take the Midwest out of the girl.
Choose from pecan, apple, or pumpkin pie for dessert, with perhaps a dash of whipped cream to top it off. Pricing is á la carte, and all orders should be placed by calling BKLYN Larder (718.783.1250) by November 17. Orders must be picked up at the store on Thanksgiving Day between the hours of 8 am and 1 pm.
