Charitable Napa Wine Auction Pairs Oenophiles and Animal Lovers

WineaPAWlooza 2016 teams up with acclaimed vintners, wineries, and vineyards in Napa and beyond...

WineaPAWlooza, unique Napa wine auction and lifestyle event, benefits the animals

WineaPAWlooza 2016, one of the nation’s premier wine auctions and lifestyle events held annually in Napa Valley, is raising money for an important cause—saving animals —by teaming up with the most acclaimed vintners, wineries, and vineyards in the Valley and United States. Auction lots are now open for proxy bidding.

WineaPAWlooza is a charity event produced by Jameson Animal Rescue Ranch (JARR), a world-class animal rescue organization that exemplifies the values of quality, commitment, and generosity of the Napa Valley. While its annual event has been sold out for months, wine collectors and animal lovers can place proxy bids on live auction lots, which include some of the most unique and sought after wines and wine experiences available in the country.

“The past two years’ WineaPAWlooza auctions have cumulatively raised more than $1.2 million for the animals and it’s looking like this year will be the best yet,” said Fritz Hatton, renowned rare and fine wine auctioneer. “I’ve traveled far and wide to assist with incredible wine auctions and these lots are by far some of the most impressive and notable lots I’ve ever seen.”

A full breakdown of lots and proxy form information can be found here: http://www.jamesonanimalrescueranch.org/wap-2016-lots. Proxy bids must be submitted by July 20th. A sample of the lots:

Beckstoffer and Bevan Barrel

Be still our hearts: Andy Beckstoffer, Las Piedras Vineyard, and Russell Bevan. Andy has generously gifted JARR ½ ton of his finest grapes from Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard, arguably one of Napa Valley’s most prestigious vineyards. This will be produced as one barrel (20 cases – 2 cases Magnums, 18 cases 750s) of wine crafted by 100-point winemaker Russell Bevan. This lot also includes lunch for six with Russell Bevan and Victoria DeCrescenzo paired with wines from Bevan Cellars.

Russell Bevan is one of Napa’s own most talented, golden boy winemakers with numerous 100-point wines under his belt. The lucky bidder will own a barrel of blue chip Cabernet Sauvignon and debut the wine among friends with Bevan guiding you through the tasting of your new wine in Napa Valley. The lot winner will be Russell and Victoria’s guest at their home for an unforgettably fun afternoon of food and wine.

Lunch with a Legend: Helen Turley

Picasso, Steve Jobs, the Dalai Lama. In the wine world, there is only one equivalent: the legendary Helen Turley, winemaker and owner of one of California’s crown jewels, Marcassin. Helen and her husband, John Wetlaufer, will host an intimate private luncheon tasting of Marcassin wines in Calistoga at Solbar paired with a custom menu by Chef Brandan Sharp. Wines will include 2006 Marcassin Vineyard Chardonnay, 2010 Marcassin Vineyard Chardonnay, 2012 Marcassin Chardonnay, and a trio of pinot noir: 2009 Marcassin Blue Slide Pinot Noir, 2009 Marcassin Three Sisters Pinot Noir, and 2009 Marcassin Vineyard Pinot Noir – all in Magnum format! As if this wasn’t enough, the winning bidder will also take home a six bottle set of Marcassin Pinot Noirs.

Solely run by JARR and hosted at Gamble Family Vineyards, WineaPAWlooza has been recognized by Wine Spectator as one of the top 10 wine auctions in the nation. The wine auction and event has raised a majority of the non-profits’ funds in the past two auctions it has held. WineaPAWLooza 2016 is slated for July 23rd at Gamble Family Vineyards in Oakville.  Proceeds from the auction will be put toward fulfilling JARR’s vision, which includes the building of Northern California’s first cage-free animal rescue and sanctuary.

“Napa Valley is a world-class food and wine destination that not only draws visitors from around the world, but has a strong sense of community and assisting those in need. This is also what drives JARR and this very special wine event,” said Monica Stevens, founder and president of Jameson Animal Rescue Ranch. “We are humbled by the generosity of Napa Valley and our generous guests and thrilled to be able to bring these offerings to those that love wine and animals.”

Founded in June 2014 by David and Monica Stevens (proprietors of 750 Wines), Jameson Animal Rescue Ranch (JARR) is a no-kill rescue and sanctuary in the Napa Valley for companion and farmed animals in need. The nonprofit provides transitional and permanent shelter, adoption and rescue services, humane education, animal advocacy, and is committed to ending animal hunger, cruelty, and overpopulation. Its vision includes Northern California’s first animal rescue and sanctuary uniquely serving all domestic animals from pigs to horses and dogs to cats. JARR also collaborates with and acts as a liaison for various animal rescue groups locally and statewide. Jameson Animal Rescue Ranch is a 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit organization.
