FrontRunners: Trunk De Blancs

<< Back to Robb Report, The Season’s Essentials

The new champagne trunk from the house of Krug (212.251.8436, www.krug.com) promises to be the toast of itinerant imbibers. Each of the 30 limited edition, calfskin-wrapped, 3-by-2-by-1-foot walnut cases ($45,000), which Parisian leather goods maker Pinel & Pinel created for Krug, comes with three bottles of Krug Grande Cuvée and accessories that include a François Bauchet pewter cooler, a truffle grater by WMF, porcelain dishware by Rina Mènardi, mother-of-pearl caviar spoons, and Krug-engraved flutes. Where you partake in the revelry requires little, if any, consideration in advance; the chest has wheels and nickel-plated brass handles, and it contains four leather stools and a table (the trunk’s door removed from its hinges) certain to render the setting of your choosing a picnic. The Krug trunk also can serve as a stationary bar in a movable setting; Fred Pinel, the founder of Pinel & Pinel, will install it aboard a jet or yacht.
