Lyric Opera of Chicago Announces Exclusive 2015 Wine Bottling

In anticipation of the highly anticipated Lyric Opera of Chicago Wine Auction on February 7, 2015, The Women’s Board is pleased to announce the release of its commemorative wine, Song. Bottled in Napa Valley at Hall Wines exclusively for Lyric, the new release is a 2012 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, which evokes the ethereal elegance inspired by the world’s finest opera. Song will be presented as a limited release in 100 stunning, etched magnums. One 6-litre selection was specially created for the live auction on February 7. Song  is generously underwritten by Abbott.

Featuring a special blend of fruit from Hall Wines’ exalted Sacrashe Vineyard and historic Bergfeld Vineyard, the commemorative wine sings with velvety tannins and fresh acidity. Rich in dark berry and cassis flavors and born on an opulent structure, Song will gracefully age for 15-20 years.

Praised by critics and wine collectors for consistent excellence in winemaking and hospitality, Hall is a fitting partner for Song.

“This wonderful collaboration with Lyric Opera of Chicago offered us the opportunity to give a new voice to our vineyards,” said Owner Kathryn Hall. “It has allowed us to combine our passions for winemaking and the arts to produce a wine that truly awakens the senses.”

“Creating Song is a passion for us, and provides a unique platform to unite fine art and fine wine to benefit programs at Lyric that keep opera alive from generation to generation,” added Marilynn Thoma, Women’s Board Member and Vice Chairman of Wine Auction 2015. “Our connection with a revered wine partner like Hall brings an even richer depth to this wine that every wine enthusiast and supporter will appreciate.”

About Hall Wines

Since first working in her family’s Mendocino vineyards, Kathryn Hall dreamed of a place to showcase fine wines alongside expressive art and masterful architecture. Now, Kathryn and Craig Hall are creating an unrivalled destination in the Napa Valley—where winemaking excellence meets contemporary design to celebrate life and inspire the senses.

In 2005, Craig and Kathryn Hall unveiled a state-of-the-art winery amid the legendary Sacrashe Vineyard in the hills of Rutherford that is dedicated to making single vineyard and limited-production wines. The Halls acquired the historic Bergfeld winery in St. Helena in 2003, and are merging history and innovation with the completion of California’s first winery to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification.

Hall’s estate vineyards encompass more than 500 acres of classic Bordeaux varietals; Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc. As winegrowers, the Halls have a strong respect for the environment and a commitment to cutting-edge vineyard technology to yield the highest quality grapes. Through meticulous attention to detail in the vineyards, Hall wines are able to express the unique and diverse character of Napa Valley’s soils and climate.
