O’Shaughnessy 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon

O’Shaughnessy Winery, which cultivates grapes from Napa Valley’s Mount Veeder, Howell Mountain, and Oakville appellations, has a curious neighbor—a somewhat unusual distinction, given the facility’s remote mountain location. This intruder is a resident black bear that makes occasional sorties onto the property, perhaps drawn by the scent of the winery’s superbly concentrated fruit. If so, the ursine interloper has good taste: This recent release is seamless, balanced, and designed to be aged. ($95)
