Michter's 10 Year Bourbon
This is the latest release of what has become an annual event of a brand that dates to colonial days, having originated in Philadelphia before being resurrected in Kentucky. This latest batch ($120) is the carefully-honed creation of Pam Heilmann, Michter’s Master Distiller, and Andrea Wilson, their master of maturation (a title usually associated with Scotch and Irish whiskies). Each bottle carries a neckband with the bottle’s barrel number. The 94.4 proof bourbon from barrel number 18B202 yielded a bit of heat on the tongue, but that was quickly quenched by flavors of burnt cherries, vanilla, and charcoal dust.
