Hermann Wiemer hails from the German village of Bernkastel, where his family has made wine for 300 years. Top Rieslings are usually from Germany, Austria, or Alsace, but Wiemer has proved that grapes grown on the western bank of Seneca Lake in New York can rival their Old World counterparts. This phenomenal single-vineyard expression will make you see New World Riesling in an entirely different light. 

• The HJW vineyard, on the western bank of Seneca Lake, offers shallow, gravelly soils with a cool mesoclimate.
• This wine is pressed with whole clusters and bottled without fining or filtration, which results in purity and a sense of place.
• Dry and vibrant on the palate, this Riesling has a long mineral finish.
