On April 26, 2014, Antonio Galloni’s VinousMedia.com will host the first ever Tuscany in the City event at Del Posto in Manhattan. Fifteen of Tuscany’s most historic and celebrated wine producers will join wine enthusiasts for a one-of-a-kind celebration dedicated to the greatest wines of Tuscany. The extraordinary two-part event will include an afternoon master-class tasting followed by a special dinner cooked by the acclaimed chefs at Del Posto. Tuscany in the City coalesces Vinous’ focus on education and its core belief in sharing and conviviality – inspirations that all great wines provide.
In the afternoon Antonio Galloni will moderate a seated tasting, Tuscany: A Study in Terroir, in an intimate, interactive and engaging setting, allowing guests to spend time with the winemakers, many of whom never travel outside Europe. Guests will taste a number of highly acclaimed wines while exploring the subtleties and nuances of the region’s microclimates.
At the gala dinner, each winemaker will host a table and will pour an older vintage from their own personal cellar. Guests are encouraged to bring wines from their own cellars to share with friends and other diners. A group of New York’s most talented sommeliers, drawn from the city’s top restaurants, will oversee wine service.
In the spirit of giving back, the live auction will include a handful of rare lots of wine, including wine from Galloni’s personal wine cellar. The proceeds will benefit The Zone at the Kravis Children’s Hospital at Mount Sinai, a state of the art facility that focuses on the special needs of children coping with serious illness and hospitalization.
Among the estates and principals that will be in attendance are: Marchese Piero Antinori of Antinori, Marchese Nicolò Incisa della Rocchetta of Tenuta San Guido, Maurizia Di Napoli of Castello dei Rampolla, Lorenza and Marco Pallanti of Castello di Ama and Giovanni Manetti of Fontodi.
