Tasting notes: A classic, it’s dense and packed with mineral and spice and delivers concentrated peach and stone fruit. Worth knowing: Wholly owned by the Trimbach family for more than 200 years, although not bottled as a single-vineyard wine until 1919, Clos Sainte-Hune produces one of the world’s greatest Rieslings. Interestingly, Alsace regulations forbid the use of the Grand Cru designation for vineyards owned entirely by one firm, but Sainte-Hune’s status is unquestionable.
