WHAT: Headphone amp/DAC
WHY: High-performance musicality that will not break the bank
Thanks to some assistance from BMW DesignworksUSA, Audeze has managed to make its first headphone amplifier and digital-to-analog converter (DAC) look nearly as good as the company’s iconic headphones. And the Deckard ($699) amp/DAC combo is capable of driving nearly every headphone on the market for a reasonable price. Full class-A circuit design ensures that the sound quality is clean and crisp, with good soundstaging and a robust midrange. The amplifier sports single-ended inputs and a USB port, and it has an output stage for preamplifier use. The DAC supports up to 32-bit 384 kHz files, and includes a USB cable and AC power cord.
