DP-A100 ($2,500)

Turntables in Denon’s product collection date back to the company’s founding in 1910, when it produced Japan’s first phonograph (Denon produced its first turntable in 1938), and 100 years later the brand still knows how to make an LP spin flawlessly. Elements such as a silicon-rubber-topped cast-aluminum platter; a heavy, universal tonearm; and a rotation control system that keeps rotation frequency consistent by detecting pulses of light as they pass through a slit inside the motor prove that Denon has still got it. Denon also releases the DL-A100 tonearm cartridge ($500) as part of its 100th Anniversary Collection. (201.762.6500, www.denon100.com)
