Peloton’s new stationary bike links the home gym to the studio...

Earlier this year, Peloton, a boutique indoor-cycling studio in New York City introduced a new stationary bike created to provide at-home riders a more immersive, interactive cycling experience. The Peloton Cycle comes equipped with a 21.5-inch high-definition touchscreen console that connects to the rider’s home Wi-Fi and can stream live video of classes taking place at the Peloton studio. Riders can communicate with class instructors during the live classes and lend support to other at-home riders through Peloton’s video-chat feature. Riders and instructors can check the leaderboard profiles of at-home riders to lend support and see their stats, which include data on cadence, resistance, output (in watts), location, and total mileage completed. The bike also comes equipped with hookups for heart-rate monitors and wireless headphones, as well as an ANT+ radio connection. To provide more flexibility for at-home riders, prerecorded spin classes are accessible at any time. The bike, priced at about $2,000, boasts a carbon-steel monocoque construction, a quiet belt-drive system, and a magnetic resistance flywheel, all of which help provide a discreet at-home ride.
