Porsche fans’ choice of transportation once was limited to sports cars, but in recent years the options expanded to include an SUV and a sedan. Now Porschephiles can pedal to their destinations. Porsche Design Driver’s Selection, a line of Porsche-branded items ranging from clothing and luggage to model cars and golf bags, has introduced the Porsche Bikes S and RS, two road bicycles. Priced at $5,000 and $9,000, respectively, the S and the RS (pictured) feature curvilinear designs that recall the lines of the 911. With a frame constructed from hydroformed aluminum and an 11-speed Shimano gear system with a trouble-free belt drive, the S (sport) is best suited for the casual rider. The RS (racing sport), on the other hand, will appeal to the more serious cyclist. It has a lighter-weight monocoque carbon-fiber frame and a 20-speed Shimano chain-gear system. Both versions are equipped with hydraulic disc brakes that quickly bring the 29-inch wheels to a stop. The bikes, which come in three sizes, can be purchased at select Porsche dealers.
