This is a project born from the encounter of two strong and visionary personalities: Mr. Giovanni Costantino, Chairman of the Italian Sea Group, one of the world’s premium yachting Groups, and Mr. Vartan Sirmakes, owner and co-founder of Franck Muller, one of the world’s most famous and prestigious watch makers.
The Master of watch complication meets the Master of yachting. From this union, which shares philosophy, vision, method and thinking, the ‘Franck Muller Yachts’ have come into the world.
This partnership blends the high-end luxury watch & yachting worlds, to create a unique product, where details are well recognizable and the highest quality becomes the regular standard.
But now it’s time for the very first jewel of this new vision to see the light.
It’s time for the all new ‘Franck Muller Yacht 55 Open’ to make a good show of herself.
A few days ago the launch ceremony took place at the Franck Muller Yachts facility in Marina di Carrara – Italy, a true atelier inside The Italian Sea Group’s headquarters.
This new yacht is something completely new, innovative, advanced and luxurious with respect to any other object having ever touched the water; the difference can be caught everywhere, in each single detail, but nothing can completely prepare to what you can feel and touch when you step on board.
The yacht is the most luxurious in its category and she doesn’t mind to show it straight away and the interiors will be over the expectation of anybody used to this kind of yachts.
It’s a real day-cruiser or weekender which wouldn’t mind to accompany its guests for a short cruising too, and it’s also the ideal mini superyacht for a young and dynamic family which is looking for that little something more and always demanding when it goes down to sophistication; and the FMY 55 is indeed a very sophisticated project, all designed to meet the expectations of very demanding Owners looking for a luxury, stylish and convivial yacht, with excellent reliability and practicality at the same time, not to talk about her quite impressive performance.
The yacht has plenty of large areas all dedicated to the pleasure of navigation, relax and sunbathing, either aft, forward and within the cockpit, where the inlaid teak cockpit table finds place, as a true piece of sculpture. The deck forward is fulfilled with cushions and it gives a sunbathing area normally found on much bigger yachts.
The aft areas also benefit from a covering sunshade system consisting of a custom Franck Muller branded canvas and carbon poles.
The FMY 55 will be also available with the “Hard Top” version in which the cockpit area becomes enclosed, with opening hard top and opening side windows.
The all design is stunning and never seen before. This is the result of the partnership between The Italian Sea Group ‘Centro Stile’ and its Art Director Gian Marco Campanino and the Franck Muller design team.
The FMY 55 design will be always well recognizable and will set a new trend within this sector; the exterior design almost breaks with anything you may have seen before, with large use of LED lights throughout the length of the yacht, following the new automotive logics; this almost creates an artwork at night, which, combined with the many sculptural details cloaking the yacht, such as the custom stemhead, makes this yacht equal to no other.
The same logic continues and it’s even more evident below deck, where the luxury found is normally typical of a superyacht. The first 55 launched features an interior layout with a master cabin forward (with ensuite bathroom) and a convertible lounge (again with ensuite bathroom), which can be completely separated from the galley which is placed on starboard side.
The all interiors feature subtle details and precious materials, which all together give a feel which is hard to explain and to match.
The material used throughout the yacht include fine ebony wood, ten different kinds of leather hand-woven in many different ways (some of those are even backlighted), stainless steel, lightweight marbles, liquid bronze panels, custom carpets, inlaid teak floors, precious wall papers and much more, creating a unique blend which delivers a warm, modern, elegant and sophisticated atmosphere.
The interiors are further enriched by the luxury linen, all Pratesi designed.
The FMY 55’ also includes an optional crew cabin placed between the guest interiors and the engine room. Alternatively this area can be provided with a storage and laundry area, as on the first yacht launched.
The innovation is of course not only limited to design; there is a great amount of technology as another essential standard of this new yacht; just to mention a few, the boat is built in composite in order to guarantee both lightness and stiffness, the standard engine configuration includes two Volvo Penta with IPS system which is synonymous of great maneuvrability (thanks to the joystick) and low consumption, not to talk about easier maintenance.
Luxury and high-end technology also mean ease of use; that’s why the yacht is provided with a full-glass cockpit system integrated within the steering wheel station and repeated inside, where each single part or system of the yacht can be monitored (domotics, electronics, lighting air conditioning etc.).
Other features include the possibility to choose for the iridescent or opalescent paint (which would be metallic as standard), the hydraulic passerelle which may be used as a bathing ladder and the Ecomar system which enhances the green attitude of this new yacht.
All of these features make the boat perfect for those who want a unique, elegant and stylish yacht to live the pleasure of navigation with style and comfort, but without burdening themselves with the issues and costs of a bigger yacht, but still getting the same quality on board; at the same time the FMY 55 is the perfect boat for those looking for a different chase boat and for sure she will most probably be more noticed than many superyacht she may go with.
The FMY 55 is the ultimate toy, where any little single detail hasn’t been left to chance; a unique yacht for very unique owners.
This uniqueness however, goes much beyond 55 feet, as the Franck Muller Yachts will range up to 108 feet, with a 68 and an 80 footer in the middle; each model will be a trend setter in its category and for sure the all fleet will mark a new way of luxury.
The first Franck Muller Yachts 55 will be officially unveiled during the upcoming Monaco Yacht Show 2015 and then the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show 2015 will be the perfect venue for the American premiere.
