The Audi Sport Racing Bike Is a Limited-Edition Carbon-Fiber Racer

The German automaker’s bike is built from super-lightweight components…

The German automaker Audi now brings the same high-performance engineering and luxury touches found in its sports cars to the world of cycling with the 13-pound Audi Sport Racing Bike, presented at the 85th Geneva International Motor Show. Joining the ranks of other performance bicycles created by such competitors as Porsche and Aston Martin, Audi’s cycle was designed in cooperation with the German firm CarbonSports. The bike’s wheels and 27.9-ounce frame are made completely from T1000 carbon fiber—the material found in the cockpit of the Audi R18 e-tron quattro racecar—and the Selle Italia saddle bears the same soft Nappa leather that graces the 2016 Audi R8. Shimano and 3T components make for a light-and-fast drivetrain, while a dash of brilliant red, set against Mythos black metallic further recalls the R8. With numbered badges, each of the 50 limited-edition cycles is priced at about $18,500.
