Electric blue is the theme of the first interior created by the Canadian firm Flying Colours for a Sikorsky S-92 helicopter. Dramatic blue insets of synthetic crocodile leather offset white leather seats in the roomy VIP cabin, with sky-blue accents complementing the oval cabin windows. Club seating arrangements accommodate four passengers up front and five in the back. The sidewalls continue the theme, with white leather accented by blue stingray-patterned leather above and crocodile-leather insets below, plus custom woodwork finished in high-gloss deep blue. Metal fittings and seat buckles are finished in satin gold, and a plush blue carpet completes the design.
Flying Colours also installed granite flooring, a first for a helicopter interior, made of handpicked Italian stone. The granite floor extends throughout the forward lavatory and the boarding area. “This was a refurbished aircraft,” says Sean Gillespie, vice president of Flying Colours. “The helicopter was 7 or 8 years old, and was bought by a new private owner. Everything was beige before. It’s been fully customized and looks brand-new.” Gillespie says that the project took about four months to complete. (flyingcolourscorp.com)
