The Dassault Falcon 900EX EASy (201.440.6700, www.dassaultfalcon.com) sports a third engine that provides extra performance when it is needed most. The short runways, high altitudes, and adverse weather conditions that may present problems for similar aircraft are not obstacles for the powerful 900EX. One might assume using three engines would burn more fuel than using two, but the 900EX actually consumes up to one-third less fuel than its competitors.
Able to fly more than 5,000 miles nonstop, the 900EX accommodates as many as 12 passengers in fully articulating cabin seats that move on tracks and adjust to various needs during flight. For added comfort and flexibility, two seats can be folded down to form a full-length bed. The amenities also extend to the cockpit, where pilots will appreciate Falcon’s user-friendly, military-derived EASy avionics suite.
Although acquisition prices for the Falcon line tend to run a bit high, the jets are known for retaining their value in the resale market. The 900EX sells for about $37 million.
