Introduced just over a year ago, the Daher TBM 900 (tbm.aero) has quickly become a top-selling aircraft: The French manufacturer (known until recently as Daher-Socata) has already delivered more than 50 examples. The single-engine turboprop is an upgraded replacement for the TBM 850. It adds winglets, a five-blade composite propeller, and about 17 mph of extra airspeed. The 15-foot-long cabin also received a thorough makeover and now offers six roomy leather seats, a folding table, and plenty of lighting and connectivity for every passenger.
Aerodynamic improvements help boost the aircraft’s performance, giving it a maximum cruising speed of 380 mph, a range of 1,990 miles, and an average fuel-burn rate of just 37 gallons per hour in its long-range mission setting. Fully equipped with the Special Elite package, the TBM 900 is priced at about $3.8 million.
