Best of the Best 2011: Sport-Utility Vehicles: Infiniti QX56

In the oversize-SUV category that includes the Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon, and Lincoln Navigator, to name three, the best of the biggest is the Infiniti QX56 (www.infiniti.com). The seven-seat, $58,700 ($61,800 with the four-wheel-drive option) QX56 offers more luxury, technology, and performance than any of the American-made alternatives. Its 5.6-liter V-8 engine pumps 400 hp and 413 ft lbs of torque, delivering an impressive 8,500-pound towing capacity.

The vehicle has a host of high-tech safety features, including an Around View Monitor that Infiniti pioneered. It allows the driver to see the car from all angles when backing out of a tight space.

Perhaps most important, for the first time since its introduction in 2004 the QX56 is not just a rebadged Nissan Armada; it is a bona fide luxury SUV, with a spacious interior that is awash in soft leather and wood trim.
