This example of a 1967 VW Microbus now brings together all the historic charm of the original with a restomod approach to drivability and performance.
The wider rear door, introduced in 1964, meant eliminating the two rear-corner windows, resulting in the 21-window version, of which this vehicle is an immaculate example.
Volkswagen’s original 53 hp flat-four engine has been replaced by a 300 hp, 2.4-liter flat-six from a 1973 Porsche 911 E.
The interior features original-style 70 Mesh Platinum upholstery and gray vinyl trim, which contrast beautifully with the steel surfaces.
Even the chrome buckles of the many red seat belts are embellished with Volkswagen’s Wolfsburg crest.
This restomod is accompanied by a copy of the original Volkswagen Birth Certificate, a Porsche 911 owner’s workshop manual, and documentation supporting the restoration and service.
A full restoration, completed in 2022, brought the vehicle back to as-new condition, but with some distinctive modifications.
An estimated value for this vehicle is available on request through Worldwide Auctioneers.
