The M division has produced a number of special edition M cars in the years since the 2003 M3 CSL, but none have worn the coveted CSL badge—until now.
The new M4 CSL will be limited to 1,000 examples.
The 3.0-liter, twin-turbo inline-six engine makes 543 hp and 479 ft lbs of torque.
The cockpit features a hunkered-down seating position and exposed carbon fiber on the center console.
The kidney grilles are bespoke to the CSL and are engineered to optimize airflow to the radiators.
The M4’s standard sport seats have been replaced by fixed-back carbon race buckets that were developed specifically for the CSL.
Output is sent exclusively to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox, and the power train allows for a zero-to-60 mph sprint of 3.6 seconds on the way to a top speed of 191 mph.
Storage for racing helmets is further testament to the M4 CSL’s track intentions.
A closer look at the exposed-carbon-fiber center console and the shifter for the eight-speed automatic transmission.
The CSL badging and related variant-specific accents are hard to miss.
The limited-edition 2023 BMW M4 CSL starts at $139,900.
