Although easy to drive, with light steering, excellent visibility, and plenty of instant torque, the Clive Sutton VIP Class taxi is meant to be experienced as a passenger riding in back.
Airline-style reclining seats are among the multiple configuration options available for the rear compartment.
Optional interior amenities include a drinks fridge, a 20-inch Apple TV screen, and a built-in PS4 gaming console.
The Clive Sutton cab uses 1.5-liter, three-cylinder engine paired with a 110 kw electric motor and 31 kwh battery, the latter offering an 81-mile range.
“Plenty of people like being driven in comfort without attracting lots of attention,” says Luke Sutton, son of company founder Clive Sutton. “And nobody looks twice at a black cab.”
The vehicle has the tightest turning circle this side of a scooter: just 25 feet. Where any normal car would need a three-point turn, this taxi simply spins around and goes.
The taxi’s lofty ride height means you look down upon other traffic, while its panoramic sunroof offers a great view of the city’s skyscrapers—particularly with the electric seat fully reclined.
The price for such incognito comfort starts at around $150,000.
