Here is How the New Pagani Huayra BC Hypercar Handles the Arctic Circle

The idea of waking up to sub-zero temperatures and working outside on the road may sound grim at best, but not if your task is to test drive the $2.5 million Pagani Huayra BC in the Arctic Circle. This past winter, this was part of the job description for developer Jorge Jauregui of Bosch Engineering, the firm responsible for many of the car’s safety systems.


Introduced at the Geneva International Motor Show in March as a variant to the original Huarya coupe, the BC (named in honor of Horacio Pagani’s close friend Benny Caiola) features the Italian marque’s carbon-titanium monocoque construction for the chassis and an enhanced 750 hp, twin-turbo Mercedes-Benz AMG V-12 engine that turns out more than 750 hp and is exclusive to Pagani. Mated to that muscle is a bespoke 7-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) that features Xtrac’s new electro-hydraulic actuation for faster and more precise shifting. Other innovations on board include Bosch’s antilock braking system, traction control, and electronic stability program.

For two weeks, Bosch had Jauregui slip-sliding through the snow and ice in Arjeplog, Sweden, to see how the new hypercar could handle the extreme conditions. As the video shows, it did extremely well. (pagani.com)
