The 2004 Monster 1000 is not Ducati’s top performance motorcycle, but many of the Ducatisti consider it one of the Italian manufacturer’s most aesthetically appealing machines.
The Monster is a naked bike, the designation assigned to a motorcycle stripped of its fairings, which exposes the bike’s inner workings for onlookers to admire. The centerpiece of the open-for-viewing Monster is its 992cc air-cooled engine, which produces 84 hp at 8,000 rpm and is encased in a tubular steel trellis frame. The 416-pound 1000, which is the most powerful Monster in the lineup, offers a riding position that is more comfortable than the forward-leaning style required to pilot the top-of-the-line Ducati superbikes.
