Another noteworthy Ferrari, a 1962 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Speciale, raked in $16.5 million for Gooding & Company. Considered to be one of the most beloved and recognizable coachbuilt Ferraris, this particular example was designed by the iconic Giorgetto Giugiaro, features Bertone bodywork, and was personally owned by the coachbuilder Nuccio Bertone himself. Inspired by the popular shark-nose racing cars, the one-of-a-kind 250 GT also was displayed at both the Geneva and Torino auto shows, and it was a prized possession of the late Mexican businessman and esteemed car collector Lorenzo Zambrano. Like other examples of the 250 GT, the burgundy-leather coupe is powered by a 2,953 cc V-12 engine with 240 hp. It is fitted with three Weber carburetors, a 4-speed manual gearbox, and vacuum-assisted disc brakes. (goodingco.com)
