Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster
Fully developed, designed, and tested by Mercedes’ high-performance AMG division, the AMG GT family of cars is inspired by—and derived from—real-life racecars. In terms of price and performance, the GT C fits just below the GT R, AMG’s street-legal racecar. But rather than simply cut the top off of the GT C coupe, the engineers at AMG created a completely new car that shares only the hood, doors, and rear wing with its fixed-roof sibling. The GT C is the most powerful roadster in the lineup, making 550 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque from AMG’s proven 4.0-liter, biturbo V8 engine. Compared with the standard GT convertible, the GT C wears a wider version of the “Panamericana” front grille and bigger fender flares. Race-inspired elements and meticulous detail carry over into the cabin, such as AMG performance seats wrapped in nappa leather and a flat-bottomed sport steering wheel. While the GT C’s offers Mercedes’ familiar Command interface and technology features such as navigation and access to mobile apps, the focus remains on the driving, without the giant widescreen display found on the S-Class, the GT C Roadster’s fellow COTY competitor.
