“I’m into cars that have speed,” says Lauren, explaining his interest in the Porsche Carrera GT. The genesis of this limited-run speedster is connected to a prototype that Porsche was developing for the 1999 racing season. An engine redesign pushed the project back a year before various obstacles derailed it completely. In 2000, Porsche unveiled a concept car at the Paris Motor Show that was powered by the prototype’s 5.5-liter V-10 engine. The concept car became the Carrera GT, which went on sale in the United States in 2004. The mid-engine sports car delivers 612 hp and a top speed of 205 mph.
