The Best of the Best 2003: Cruisers – Victory Vegas

The Victory Vegas needed a major overhaul. Riders criticized its sleepy styling, rattling transmission, and abrupt shifting. However, these complaints were usurped by laudations when the 2003 Vegas was released.

The newest version sits lower and is more stretched out than the previous Vegas, giving it a sleeker, laid-back appearance and allowing for several hours of comfortable highway or back-road cruising. A 92-cu-in (1,507cc) air-cooled 50-degree engine powers the Vegas, while the cruiser’s 5-speed transmission shifts smoothly and quietly as the bike gathers speed. The $14,999 Vegas has plenty of raw power, but the ride is smooth, thanks to the suspension’s increased damping resistance and improved springing. The previous Vegas had dual front brakes, but a lone Brembo disc brings the 2003 model to a firm yet gentle halt.
