The Lamborghini Murciélago LP 650-4 Roadster was conspicuously absent from the Italian marque’s display at the Geneva International Motor Show in March. Instead, the SuperVeloce—with its canary-yellow paint and oversize rear-wing spoiler—took center stage, while Lamborghini’s first production LP 650-4 Roadster was kept under wraps. Like any other Lamborghini, however, this $424,695 convertible will not maintain a low profile for long.
Only 50 examples of the LP 650-4 Roadster will ever leave the Sant’Agata factory, and all will wear the same two-tone paint job—a Grigio Telesto gray body with bright-orange Arancio trim. Orange brake calipers and LP 650-4 decals on the front fender and driver’s-side air scoop also differentiate the car from the standard Murciélago Roadster. The interior includes a few bespoke touches as well: The paddle-shift levers for the 6-speed E-gear transmission are orange, and a steel plaque between the seats displays the build number. Lamborghini squeezed an additional 10 hp out of the standard Murciélago Roadster’s 6.5-liter V-12 engine, though the increase does very little to improve the car’s performance figures. Still, a convertible that reaches 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 205 mph leaves little to be desired.
