The 43-Foot Kifaru Baby Is a High-Tech Tender with a Soft Side

Looking more like an exploratory spaceship from Star Trek than a speedboat, Cantiere Navale Italia’s 43-foot Kifaru Baby is a futuristic cruiser that makes enjoying a day out at sea child’s play. Designed by Luca Dini, the high-tech tender is made completely from aluminum alloy (with magnesium to prevent corrosion) and somewhat resembles a bullet. The lightweight planing V-hull works with the twin Yanmar 370 hp diesel engines to achieve a top speed of almost 45 knots.

Designed to be easily operated by an owner who wants to play the role of captain, the Kifaru Baby’s bridge features a fully integrated helm designed in-house (in partnership with Naviop). The dashboard consists of a single wheel and a 24-inch touchscreen display that controls not only navigation, but safety, lighting, and entertainment systems as well. Protecting the bridge is an aluminum canopy and crystal windscreen.

The boat’s 12-person capacity seems especially roomy due to the foredeck’s electrically telescoping teak table—seating six guests when elevated—and semicircular lounge space bordering the bow. Shade is provided by a carbon bimini when needed. Aft amenities include a sundeck and teak bathing platform with a retractable stand-up shower. A boutique belowdecks presents a full galley along with a master suite featuring a king-size bed and a bathroom with a shower. The boat’s boarding access is provided by a hydraulic nearly 4-foot-long gangway.

Ready for day trips along the coast, shuttle service between megayachts, or to go where no one has gone before, Kifaru Baby introduced itself to the world at the Cannes and Monaco yacht shows in September. (kifaruyacht.com
