88 FLY

Azimut Yachts celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2009 and launched some of its smartest motor-yacht designs to mark the occasion. The new Azimut 88 FLY makes excellent use of the exterior space, with a large social area on the rear of the flybridge and large sun bed on the bow area. Designer Stefano Righini also turned the salon and dining room, which total more than 290 square feet, into a palatial suite with exceptional waterfront views. The interior design is tasteful and subdued, with doors framed in walnut, four types of marble across the yacht, and a sweeping array of windows for natural light, both on the main deck and in the staterooms below. Righini also established a system of passages to allow the crew to conduct the yacht’s business without bothering guests. The master stateroom and VIP suite are more like suites on yachts 10 feet longer. More than the sum of its parts, the 88 is a masterful rethinking of the flybridge concept.
