The Azimut Magellano 50 (+39. 011.93.161, www.azimutyachts.com),the second model in the Italian builder’s long-range, eco-friendly Magellano line, provides a stable, soft ride thanks to the company’s Dual Mode hull. This semi-displacement design includes a deep-V bow section, a very shallow dead rise at the stern, wide chines, and a soft section in the middle of the hull that acts like a shock absorber.
The Magellano 50 can travel more than 1,000 nautical miles at a speed of 8 knots before refueling. As an option, Azimut offers two electric engines to supplement the dual 425 hp Cummins diesels. The electric engines enable the yacht to cruise at 7 knots for 10 nautical miles while releasing zero emissions and making 80 percent less noise than when the diesels are running. The Magellano 50, which has a base price of $1.35 million, has a spacious main deck and flybridge, and the four lower-deck options include two- and three-stateroom configurations.
