At 220 feet, sailing yacht Vertigo (www.alloyyachts.co.nz; available for charter through YCO, +37.793.501.212, www.ycoyacht.com) is the largest build to date from New Zealand’s Alloy Yachts and the largest sailing yacht ever launched in the Southern Hemisphere. When the beautiful ketch hit the water in February 2011, it was also the largest yacht ever created from a design by famed naval architect Philippe Briand. Since launching, Vertigo has ventured through the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific, and the sailboat—which features a 4,000-nautical-mile range under power of its dual Caterpillar C32 engines—is available for charter in the Mediterranean this summer. Passengers enjoy uninterrupted vistas of these far-flung destinations from the yacht’s nearly 5,000-square-foot deck, which includes a flybridge with plenty of seating, a large aft sun pad, and a central dining table. The main deck’s aft dining area houses a 12-seat marble table, and the space converts to an outdoor cinema with a drop-down film screen. Apple TV–equipped display panels in the main salon, children’s playroom, four guest cabins, and 430-square-foot master suite help keep the yacht’s 12 guests entertained belowdecks.
