Hull No. 2 of Dominator Yachts’ newest cruiser, the Dominator 800, is a custom-made 80-foot yacht with cutting-edge technology and a minimalist interior design. Honoring the client’s request for a large galley and dining area, the Italian designer Alberto Mancini created a custom layout decorated in understated shades of beige, taupe, and gray. The high-end sofa manufacturer Minotti designed two custom ostrich-leather sofas for the main saloon, which also features a large TV and easy access to a patio with plenty of outdoor seating. The bespoke pleasure yacht—which can accommodate 16 people—has four guest cabins and two crew cabins, along with a breakfast bar, a dining-room table with seating for six, a bathroom with a walk-in shower and vanity, and a deck equipped with a bar, comfortable lounge seating, and ample space for sunbathing.
While its the amenities are plush, the true star of the show is the ship’s tailor-made technology. The hull construction uses vacuum-infusion technology, with sandwich laminate and fiberglass, which reduces the weight of the boat while providing additional strength. Two Seakeeper 9 gyroscopic stabilizers provide motion stabilization at anchor, and a Fortjes 4000 propulsion system distributes power to two separate propellers, resulting in a more stable method of maneuvering. Also thanks to the propulsion system, the boat is more efficient than others in its class and uses less power—conserving energy without sacrificing comfort. The Dominator 800 can travel at a long-range cruise speed of 24 to 25 knots for 390 nautical miles; its top speed is 35 knots. (dominatoryachts.com)
