The owner who commissioned Elandess from German builder Abeking & Rasmussen wanted a family-friendly boat, but one that would “push the boundaries even further than his first yacht,” says Dickie Bannenberg, of Bannenberg & Rowell Design, the firm responsible for Elandess’ interior spaces. Bannenberg’s edgy yet inviting interior—which displays the owner’s whimsical artwork and furniture gathered from his family’s travels—thus includes plenty of familial gathering spaces and such features as two staterooms that can be converted into one large suite. Delivered August 2009, the 197-foot yacht also offers a 969-square-foot main-deck master apartment and two other lower-deck staterooms, plus room for 14 crewmembers. The boat carries two tenders, which are deployed via a launching system located at the stern.
