Heesen Yachts launches Galatea

This 131-foot megayacht is sporty, speedy, and sophisticated…

The Dutch shipyard Heesen Yachts applies the term “sportster” to its newest launch, Galatea. The 131-foot motor yacht is indeed sporty and features a low profile, and it retains the builder’s famous emphasis on speed. The all-aluminum vessel, which features svelte naval architecture and exterior design by Van Oossanen and Heesen, is engineered for a 27.5-knot maximum speed (while at half load) thanks to its twin MTU engines, which its owner will likely be putting to the test following its delivery at the end of March. Galatea sleeps 10 guests in five cabins, including the full-beam master suite on the main deck. Of special note is the flybridge—measuring more than 900 square feet, it exceptionally spacious for a yacht this size. It includes a hot tub (naturally), sunning space, and a shaded dining area that includes a teppanyaki grill. Should passengers seek more shade, the interior of Galatea, which was designed by Omega Architects, will treat them to a sophisticated atmosphere highlighted by multiple woods, inlays, and glasswork.
