The granddaddy of superyacht marinas, Port Hercule in Monte Carlo has arguably the richest yachting heritage of anywhere in the world. Prince Rainier and Princess Grace driving their mahogany Rivas, Sean Connery as James Bond gambling in the Casino de Monte-Carlo, or just about any other fantasy involving the 1960s jet set is part of the Monaco fantasy. Port Hercule remains the superyacht capital of the Mediterranean, an idyllic setting surrounded by Monaco’s steep hills, with elegant high rises surrounding the city. Just steps from the docks are some of the Med’s best restaurants, casinos, and hotels. Monte Carlo hosts the Monaco Grand Prix in May, but its most famous yachting event is the Monaco Yacht Show in September, where the world’s finest collections of superyachts gather.
