City Style Chicago: The Arts Club of Chicago

This cultural institution—home to one of the city’s most remarkable permanent collections—is a quiet preserve of modern artworks by Richard Artschwager, Alexander Calder, Paul Klee, Henri Matisse, and Joan Miró, among others. A staircase designed for a previous Arts Club location by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe links the first and second floors. While members enjoy the beloved lunch lecture series and other such privileges, visitors are always welcome in the first-floor galleries and exhibitions at this artistic sanctuary, which will celebrate its centennial next year. 312.787.3997, artsclubchicago.org
