The jewelry from the Larkspur & Hawk Caprice collection (larkspurandhawk.com) has a subtle glow that comes from backing the stones with foil—a technique dating to the Georgian era that enhances the interplay of color, texture, and light. “I have resurrected this technique to create a unique look that is both historical and modern,” says the company’s founder and designer, Emily Satloff. The new collection, which is sold exclusively at Fred Leighton in New York, features gold pieces set with stones that evoke the rich colors and textures of Georgian-era taffetas and velvets. They include the $9,900 amethyst-and-diamond foil-backed earrings shown here. Each of the collection’s 40 pieces, ranging in price from $800 to $12,900, is a variation on a popular 18th-century design.
