Hudson Yards—a 28-acre neighborhood on Manhattan’s West Side—will be anchored by “Vessel,” a $150 million landmark designed by Thomas Heatherwick. The copper-colored, 15-story design will function as a climbable piece of public art, complete with 154 staircases and 80 landings that point to the skies. Inspired by Indian stepwells, the interactive sculpture will feature a mile of pathways, giving New Yorkers a new way to work out—and a new way to see the city. The Vessel is located near the condominium Fifteen Hudson Yards and the recently launched luxury rental One Hudson Yards.
