Opened in 1926 with the Coachella Valley’s first nine-hole golf course, La Quinta Resort & Club has been a Hollywood hideaway of choice since the days of guests like Greta Garbo and Clark Gable. Today, it continues to attract regulars with its wide array of activities, multiple restaurants, and upscale accommodations—which range from cozy casitas to spacious suites with private pools or wood-burning fireplaces. The extra-large Hacienda Suite features a fireplace-equipped living room that gives way to a dining room with seating for eight. Beyond, French doors open out onto a private yard and pool deck with sweeping views of the Santa Rosa Mountains.
Together, the indoor-outdoor spaces can hold up to 100 seated guests, or 150 for a party. A personal concierge can arrange for decorations (including pool floaties), while meals can be catered from three of the resort’s dining destinations. They might include seasonal specials like Christmas Wreath Salad, roasted quail, and winter squash and ricotta ravioli. Top the celebration off with a special holiday cocktail like the It’s a Wonderful Life-inspired George Bailey, made with allspice liquor, white crème de cacao, Baileys Original Irish Cream, and a hint of gingerbread.
