This special limited edition of Veuve Clicquot’s La Grande Dame prestige cuvée ($150) has been inspired by British fashion designer Charlotte Olympia’s glamorous Vanina clutch. The gift box and the bottle include leopard print details, a stylish touch to an elegant Champagne. This seems an appropriate touch from a maison that blossomed under the guidance of another fashionable woman, Madame Clicquot. Though the fruit for this wine was harvested before the current winemaker Dominique Demarville took over as cellar master in 2009, his hand can be seen in knowing just when to take it off the lees. Predominantly made with Pinot Noir, the blend also includes Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. Notes of quince and brioche vie for the nose and a lively citrus emerges on the palate.
